On Travel Regrets It goes without saying that it is nearly impossible to satisfy a traveler. There will always be that conflict between whether or not to return to see the things you missed from a previous trip, or to look forward to different corners of the world and towards new countries and cultures. Overall, I’ve been pretty satisfied with the way I have grown as a traveler. The places I have… Read More

As I am entering into my final hours in New Zealand, I find myself wishing that I had a photographic memory. A memory where I could remember exactly what I did, what it looked like, I could memorize the faces of those I have met, so I could remember the places the little things, like one particular mountain that took my breathe away or one moment within another conversation with a fellow… Read More

We were off to Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand on the 2nd of January. Even though Queenstown was going to be a tough act to follow, Wellington did quite a good job! Wellington, to me, was the first place I had been in New Zealand that I could see myself living in. The waterfront is beautiful and the city has a charm that I really couldn’t find in Queenstown. It’s surprising that, after… Read More

The time has come!! 2011 is coming to a close, and 2013 is right around the corner. Tis the season for New Year’s resolutions, new adventures and challenges, and, in my case, a renewed case of wanderlust. It’s only the beginning of my traveling for the year, and yet I can already tell that in seven months when I finally return to the States, I will be yearning for the road once more; unable… Read More

Using Queenstown as a base, we ditched our large suitcases in the hostel and bed and breakfast, and headed off for an overnight trip to the infamous Fjordland of Southwest New Zealand. The Fjordland is characterized by the majestic Southern Alp peaks that lead into the eerie, lush Fjords that jet out into the ocean. Although Milford Sound is the most famous of the Fjords located in Fjordland, we made the choice to visit to Doubtful Sound.

It might have been the bungee jumping, but Queenstown is definitely my favorite city in New Zealand thus far.  Smaller than Boulder, Colorado (it has a population of about 20,000), Queenstown is a cute little touristy town. Honestly, I’ve not met many Kiwi’s here, nevertheless, I do like it a lot. My dad and step mom are staying in a cute little Bed and Breakfast on the hill in Queenstown, and on… Read More

Queenstown, New Zealand is a resort town located on the southern part of the South Island of New Zealand primarily known for something called “adventure tourism.” It is also called “the Adventure Capital of the World”, a very fitting name for the assortment of activities offered in the town. Everything from skiing and snowboarding in winger, to bungee jumping mountain biking, sky diving, and parapenting in the summer, Queenstown is truly a… Read More

Growing up in Colorado, I believe that I am quite spoiled when it comes to scenery, especially when it comes to mountains, but I think that New Zealand might actually beat out Colorado on beauty. One of the coolest things that I have done while in New Zealand, and something that I would suggest for anyone and everyone to do if they come to New Zealand is a Helicopter tour! On the… Read More

It is hard to believe that it is the middle of December and, as all of my friends and their families begin to prepare for the cold holiday season with layer of sweaters and warm wool socks, I have my shorts and T-shirt on, the car window rolled down, and am soaking in some of that road-trip sun.  Our first adventure stop on the South Island brought us to Abel Tasman National Park located… Read More

As I type, I am in our little silver, Toyota car driving from Westport, New Zealand to Franz Josef, home to the famous Franz Josef Glacier, a sight I am sure that I will be seeing when we get there. We have only been here four days, and I already feel as though I am a part of the culture and the people. New Zealand, I can confidently say, is one of… Read More
